It's far too late for that. Talk about shutting the barn door after the horse has bolted.
Re: a burqa ban ... considering 7 of the 12 people who were arrested in London are women, it's not surprising that they're tossing around that idea
Ultimately i doubt it matters--at least in terms of preventing future terror attacks. Someone set on killing masses of people isn't going to stroll up in full niqab, waving the ISIS flag.
If the rationale for such a ban is to somehow force assimilation or for other cultural reasons, that's a different story.

Are there any frankish descendant left in france? The franks drove the ottoman empire all the way back to the holy land.

too late for that
It would be labeled draconian, nazi, extreme, intolerant, bad for business, phobic, and so forth, according to the Prog-Left's orthodoxy. They will scream, cry, ask the U.N. to intervene, demonstrate and in general wreak havoc in British society and politics for a while.
But a government determined to rid the nation of this element must assume the power to do the really hard things.
One of those terribly hard things might well be mass revocation of citizenships given previously to immigrants from predominantly Muslim nations and/or their British (inc Commonwealth) born offspring and grand children. Coupled with no questions asked deportation. It would ignite a firestorm.
I'm not sure any government in a democracy would have this kind of determination or will, but short of internment camps and final solutions, I don't see anything less being effective in ending the terror, by Islamic extremists foreign and domestic.

It's idiotic, and only further promotes radicalized Muslims to do radicalized things.
When it comes to Muslims in Europe, especially young people, you've got the pull of the west squaring off against the Salafi Islamic influence they're getting in their neighborhood, online, etc.
Contrary to what many on this board think, the western appeal wins out a fair amount of the time. That isn't to say Islam and western pluralism are particularly compatible, but if you're getting your fulfillment off of buying Louis Vuitton wallets and going to concerts rather than listening to radical clerics, I'll take what I can get.
Poking would-be-Islamists with shite like this serves no purpose. It doesn't help secure the country, it doesn't break up the enclaves or promote assimilation, it just results in people who might otherwise not turn to violence fuming about a slight against their faith.

I think it's partly this and partly that they can be used to conceal ones identity while committing a crime
