Wife and I are leaving in one week. I've seen a recent post from speckledawg with a review. Any others have any restaurant recommendations or any other must visit places not in guide books?

We fly into Prague and plan to stay roughly 3 days in each city before departing from Budapest.

I have some Vienna recs for you. If price is no object, go to Steireck. This is fantastic restaurant in the main downtown City Park. We had a great dinner one night at Plachutta. This is a popular place just off the Ringstrasse. They bring out a diagram of a cow and tell you to pick out the cut of meat you want. Then they boil it tableside for you in copper pots. First you have the broth as a soup, then you eat the beef with vegetables. It is delicious. Instead of having dessert at the restaurant, walk around the Ringstrasse to the Sacher Hotel and have coffee and dessert in their café.

In Vienna, go to the Demel chocolatier and get a "schockobombe". It is life altering.

After you do that, go to the Meinl grocery store close by to pick up your souvenir chocolates and candies to take home (for a fraction of the cost). While there go upstairs to the bar...yes a bar in a grocery store...and have a cold Ottakringer Draft.

Check out Bakeshop for pastries, coffee, breakfast or sandwiches in Prague. If you happen to be on the other side of the river, check out Cafe Savoy.

Cafe Imperial for a nice dinner...crazy ornate interior.

Also, Charles Bridge at night is magical. You will be tired after walking all day on those uneven stone streets and sidewalks, but take a nap if necessary to experience the bridge at night.

ETA: We had an airbnb, and one day decided to go to the nearby grocery store to get a few things. We got cream for coffee, three types of cheese, crackers, a bottle of wine, and maybe one other thing...it was less than $6. So if you really want value, go to the grocery store.

Mak bistro in Budapest is very good. I walked to the restaurant Costes, which I think has a Michelin star, and saw Mak across the street, looked at the menu, and ended up eating there instead. It's a casual place, great wine selection, really good food and great service. Also the restaurant in the Ritz Carlton is really good, also has great service, and occasionally has live music. Budapest has a great wine country, the people are very proud of Hungarian wines, and they should be, they are very good.

Go have some drinks at Hotel U Prince in Old Town Square in Prague, great rooftop bar.

Prague is a fun place. It's hard not to enjoy life there. Budapest is great after hours at some of the clubs by the river. There are tons of bands and dancing under the stars. The artist village is a boat ride down the river. It was quite beautiful. Vienna was meh and frick that dry arse chocolate cake. Salzburg was more enjoyable to me plus there is a high speed train between there and Munich that would allow for a great day trip. Enjoy!
