Better off buying one with a rebuilt title. I bought a salvage title 2014 infinit q60 out of Houston off eBay and had a heck of a time getting rebuilt title in Florida....Love the car and it seems to drive better at half price..

Don't be afraid of a salvage title. But get it checked by a mechanic and a body guy. Also depends on why it was salvaged. I bought a 96 accord w a salvage title w 10k miles in 98. Paid $10k for it. It had been stolen and set on fire. Vietnamese guy on almonsater bought it, replaced the interior w the interior of an identical wrecked accord. I drive it ten years and 100k w no issues. Gave it to a family member when I got a new car.

Despite what some say, you can insure it for full coverage and you can sell it later, just not for as much as a non salvage. You can even finance it.

Looking at getting a salvage title challenger to rip out spare parts. Good investment

The wife has had 2 brand new ones. Pieces of shite. I'll never buy another one much less one with 100k on it. I can only imagine the problems you had with that thing.

I know salvaged title cars are a pain in the arse in AL. I don't recommend it.

If it is a wreck salvage take it to get an alignment. If they can align it and the engine sounds good you probably risk it for 3k miles a year.

My parents have bought a few and they have all been great vehicles. They key is to trust the mechanic who fixed it. Last truck they bought was totaled out due to flood damage but the mechanic said there wasn't any actual water damage. Didnt even have to change the floor mats. Granted, they go to church with the mechanic so they trusted him.

One key issue that all the "pros" on here have missed.... you can't get a tag for a salvage brand title in MS, LA, and AL I know for a fact on them. I have never heard of a personal insurance that will insure a salvage title.

Second, salvage vehicles are great buys if you get someone that can do the paperwork for the DMV inspection to have it rebranded as Rebuilt.

And to the people on here that are saying the "the frame is bent so it was salvaged", wow, y'all are misinformed. A "Total Loss" is the term for a vehicle that has sustained damage that the repair costs are not feasible to the total value, in MS and LA it is 75% of value limit by the State reqs. I.E., 2006 Chrysler Sebring hit in the side, needs two doors and the quarter repaired. Body shop estimate is 3 grand and said car is worth 3500..... Total Loss.

If you would buy a salvaged vehicle for dirt cheap to do day to day stuff in your local area to keep your mileage low on your new vehicle than it may be worth it. To use it as a primary vehicle no I wouldn't suggest it. Just save a bit and buy a good used vehicle that you could use as a primary and will be reliable.

You're wrong 100% here. Maybe you should do some research on this with your Sparetime, dumbass.

I think he got all of you with his wording. He is right about everything he said. Go back and re read his post. You must have a salvage title turned into a rebuilt/reconditioned title by the DMV.

To do this you need to bring all repair receipts and have the State Trooper do a safety inspections.
Bring safety inspections paperwork and all repair receipts to DMV and they give you a new title that can now be insured.

It may be any police that can do that inspection mj2. I've had two inspected by LP deputies.

In Baton Rouge, it's State Police in a one room building behind the DMV on Independence Blvd.

And yes, they make you Recon title. Not a big deal if you've done the repairs and have the receipts.

No. Need rebuilt title for registration. Can't even get a license plate without reconstructed title.
