How do you think Trump is coming along with the swamp draining?

DJT got my vote for two reasons: I can't stand Hillary and to drain the swamp. Hillary's entitled self was kept out of office so that puts a smile on my face, but now onto the more important step: the swamp draining.
D.C. is a corrupt shitehole, how has The Donald faired in cleaning it up and what would you say his accomplishments thus far would be? And do you feel satisfied with him and his efforts thus far in this regard?

I don't think he or anyone can make D.C. not corrupt

What EXACTLY has he drained?

Well considering Trump is already seeking a bunch of ethics waivers, including for lobbyists...not that well?

I would argue that the swamp has not been drained and may or not be but via Trump we see it now. He has shown us all that we live in a fantasy.
He has shown us all that we live within an orchestrated machine that serves the powerful establishment that will correct the mistakes they feel are made by the electorate.

The problem is, its a really big swamp. And a powerful one, too. As just one example, look at how much Senators McCain and Graham hate Trump. Not onoy are they part of the swamp, but both despise Trump on a personal level.
Those two will oppose every legislative measure Trump proposes. That's why the "Senate GOP Majority" is a misnomer, because these two alone make it a 50/50 split.
Trump has done some good work on his own, but Ryan and McConnell are betraying him. Then again, why would they want the swamp to be drained? They're part of it.

quote:The "corrupt shitehole" has never been this exposed, or vulnerable. In and of itself, that is an accomplishment. Trump is dragging uniparty RINOs fully out into the open. That is a major accomplishment. It is far far far to early to pass judgement on Trump as a POTUS, but considering the death match he's embroiled in, he's actually been ok so far.

A president doesn't have the ability to drain the swamp; he can only expose it, which is has done.

He's rescinded regulations by the thousands, new regs must be offset by removal of two, his budget is calling for a cut of 30+% of EPA...that's a start.
...and no, I don't agree with everything he's doing, but not going to give up on him. Eight years of the last POS, I can stand a hell of a lot of flack at this point.
As a charter member of the old Citizens Against Government Waste (back in the 80's), there was a list published each year of every single bit of waste in the Fed. The last report I saw was back around '03 if I remember correctly. It was 8 pages (letter size), #6 font, front and back. Recollect the total being close to $750B.
Not sure if CAGW is still around.

I think he's trying but I doubt anyone can do it. It may seriously take a major economic collapse

Lets See:
6 Goldman Sachs appointments:
- Steven Mnuchin(Treasury)
- Gary Cohn(National Economic Counsel)
- Dina Powell(advisor),
- Jay Clayton(SEC Chairman)
- Steve Bannon(Chief Strategist),
- Anthony Scaramuchi(announced but not yet appointed for Director of Public liaison and government affairs, was a key advisor to the campaign)
- * Jim Donovon(turned down second in line at the Treasury)
A slew of big donors and career swamp members to positions in government
Dozens of lobbyists hired.
Doing a good job skirting its own ethics rules
A vast web of conflicts of interest.
The swamp is pretty big, I guess Trump figured the best way to curb some of its growth was to start stashing them away in his government?

For me he's been a real disappointment, but it's not really a shock either. Huge roll of the dice but when casting my vote I thought what the hell, YOLO right?
Candidate Trump and President Trump are two entirely different people. He's dysfunctional but I knew that going in, what I'm disappointed in is the take no prisoners burn it all to the ground candidate is more concerned about his own insecurities than the disinfranchised working class whom propelled him into office.
Even more disappointing are his supporters. Leading up to the election it really seemed like the country was ready for real tangible change, that they were ready to start holding politicians responsible for a change. That's fallen apart and most seem content to make excuses for their "side" as usual. Being against McCain gives them the false impression that they aren't partisan because they're calling someone with an R in front of their name a cuck, but at the end of the day we're back to the same partisanship us vs them mentality that we've always had, hell maybe even moreso. On both sides everyone's positions on topics isn't based on anything other than what the other side thinks about it.
Is any of it surprising? No not really. But long gone is the election night euphoria of holy shite we really might do it, and now the US is as dysfunctional as ever. But hey, it's the libs fault right?

Drain the swamp? Trump is a billionaire that has spent his entire life giving money to politicians for various things...he is a swamp creature. Not sure what people were expecting in the first place, that said I doubt anyone person is capable of draining it. To drain the swamp it would require a political movement unlike anything we've seen before.

Trump exempts senior staff from ethics rules
quote:
The White House on Wednesday evening released its list of waivers to the Trump administration ethics pledge, exempting at least a dozen White House officials from the rules.
The list includes ex-lobbyists who joined the administration to work on policy areas they had covered for their K Street clients. Two comprehensive waivers give whole swaths of White House employees a waiver from the ethics pledge.
Trump’s ethics pledge, contained in an executive order, came along with promises that he would “drain the swamp” of the Washington influence industry.
Drain must be clogged.

If anything he has reinforced the swamp with some of the things going on at the WH.
