First let me answer your question
Protein
Creatine mono-10g daily
Glutamine to reduce soreness
Bcaas for recovery
Beta alanine for endurance
Second off his diet should consist of a minimum of
1.5lbs of beef daily
Dozen eggs daily
The rest should come from whatever he wants with the following caveats
Calories should be high enough he is gaining weight on an every two week average
Protein needs to be at 2xs bodyweight. An easy way to do this is eat the above and also have one scoop of protein in unsweetened cashew milk with every meal.
The rest can come from whatever he wants.
If he isn't gaining have him add a tablespoon of olive oil to shakes or have him eat a few scoops of natural nut butter.
If he is gaining too much fat, cut out carbs last few hours before bed and start having him do jump rope to burn cals and improve footwork.
Now my question is why in the hell is he training 5 days a week? What program is he on?
You should think about putting him on one of the following programs:
Greyskull lp linebacker version
Mad cow
531 bbb challenge
531 building the monolith
Super squats
All our free programs or are linked on my google drive in the putthaforkdown thread. The best thing you could do is get him on one of these with the above diet.

Not to hijack this nutrition thread, but I 100% agree with the jump rope recommendation for football players.

It is very underrated, but is awesome for footwork and keeping body fat in check . 5-10 minutes a day or a few times a week can do wonders
