He's correct of course, with a big caveat. Ideally you would play a full quarter of normal football.

However given how physically demanding football games are (compared to other sports) there are clearly major pluses to sort of getting the game concluded as quickly as possible.

Hoe often does a team go to overtime in a season? Maybe once per season st most

Let's say a player has a 10 year career, that's 10 times he might go to over time.

If we say right the game will be 10 minutes regardless that probably only adds 3 or 4 minutes to the game.

That's 40 minutes extra over a career of which he will probably be on the field for half of it so actually extending his minutes played 20 minutes over a 10 year career.

Is that really going to make the difference?

Meh, it's not as bad now that Goodell has pussified the sport
