There are good markets for coal. Exports, and yes domestic power production , not to mention the steel industry. We will have plenty of coal when the natural gas is all gone.

No coal...
No steel. Currently 70% of all steel manufacturing uses coal to fuel furnaces. Obvious change could occur but is costly and would take time.
