My only knock against Kareem is how mediocre his teams were without an elite PG leading the way.

I mean, Jordan didn't win a champ without an amazing 3 (Pippen), the winningest coach of all time (Phil) and a very good 4 (rodman and grant). The bulls championship teams of the 90s were absolutely stacked.

The only real data we have of this timeframe without one of those ingredients is the '94 and '95 seasons. In 94, without Jordan, the bulls actually have a very solid regular season (they won 2 fewer games than the season before when they had jordan) and lose in the second round of the playoffs. In 95 they lose grant as well, and take an absolute nose dive. Jordan's reappearance is enough to get them to the playoffs, but they again lose in the second round to an Orlando team that gets swept in the finals.

Now, when rodman comes on board the next year, they have one of the all time great teams assembled and win the champ.

Not only did MJ not win a title without Pippen and Jackson, he never achieved a winning season until the Bulls drafted Pippen and Grant and added Jackson to the coaching staff in 87. Every year MJ played without Pippen and Jackson his teams compiled a losing record.
