If you think the responses by Conservatives, collectively, to Obama come remotely close to the extreme reaction to Trump by the left, you're in denial.

by your definition in the OP, yes, you accused Trump of committing treason

It's not my definition of treason. It's the dictionary's definition of treason.

quote:

"the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance".

Trump merely questioning the qualifications of Obama to be POTUS was not an overt act to overthrow the government.

He was just asking for some proof of Obama's birthplace to make certain Obama was qualified to be POTUS just like Hillary did when she was running against Obama.

Yeah, I'm used to the Poliboard group amnesia regarding their previous scorching hot takes but "Y'all probably didn't know this since we hid it so well but we didn't like Obama very much!" was too big a whopper even by the rock bottom standards of this board.

Sounds much, much more like sore winner righties who wanted a tyrant and can't have one to the degree they wanted

Just like the lefties who cried about democracy being "broken" when obama didn't get his way 100% just a few short years ago

Poll numbers

Remind me again, in that same time frame of Obama's supposed great numbers, what were the polls saying about Donald Trump's chances to win the presidency?

Well, leaving office was the best thing he ever did, and I approved of that too.

Overtly expressing one's dislike of a POTUS is not treason.

Conspiring to twist and twisting every word a POTUS says in an attempt to make it appear that the POTUS committed "high crimes or misdemeanors" so he can be impeached and conspiring to disrupt and disrupting the functioning of the government by shouting down Congressmen and Congresswomen so they can't conduct their business with the American people they represent appears to fit the dictionary definition of treason that I posted in my OP.

I love how your comments always seem to put you above the fray.

On this board, it isn't difficult.

This board suffers from an incredible inferiority complex, as your response clearly indicates.

It is also filled with Drama Queens that just love to lap up the propaganda and then bring it to life, as if it's real. It's like discussing what grade of fuel Santa Claus uses for his sleigh and whether he uses domestic or the imported stuff.

I would prefer for them to go away and start their own Drama Queen board (Chicken are you listening?), so that actual politics can be discussed. But since that isn't going to happen, I'll continue to be entertained by poking fun at the most juvenile of comments.

Thanks for your interest.

I don't think many of them realize the depths of disdain that most Conservatives felt for Obama. But he was the elected POTUS; so we grit our teeth, bided time, and vowed to make a change
I think many of them realized exactly how much many people hated Obama. In fact, I think that most of them believed that we hated Obama even more than we actually did, which leads me to the point. When dems think of republicans during the Obama years, they don't think of you sitting at home grinding their teethe. They think of BAIR lining the streets outside mosques with powerful guns, they think of college kids spray painting swastikas and ripping hijabs from women's heads, they think of the privileged whites dismissing every concern of minority communities with the dismissive fall back of 'you have it good enough'. In short, they think of all the negative stereotypes associated with us racist, xenophobic, bigoted, hateful republicans.

When they think this about most of us, they are severely wrong. But it's what they think because it's the only perception of southern conservatives that many democrats get from the media. Which makes sense. The media isn't going to waste their money-making hours talking about you sitting at home grinding their teeth. That's not good TV. They get far more viewers by highliting the extremes. And that's what people who don't know many conservatives end up believing about us. That we are 'extremists' bc we don't see the world exactly the way they do.

So what's the point of this little diatribe? It's that we shouldn't be repeating the left's mistakes. Let's not mistake the violent protesters and scared snowflakes we see from the left on the news as representing their entire party. It's not. Like you, many of them are gritting their teeth, biding their time, and vowing to make a change. And if we fall victim to the same trap that hit dems in 2016, they'll likely respond by electing a similar loud-mouthed bully to the one we have now, only their guy will have drastically more dangerous economic and social policies.

TL/DR version: Stop sensationalizing. It doesn't help. Plenty of them understand what democracy entails and very, very few have come anywhere close to committing actual treason. I'm also frustrated seeing a subgroup of them bitching and moaning every day, and I'm certainly frustrated with a large chunk of the media carrying their water for them. But categorizing this as treason is so far off base that it makes OP look delusional.

Trump is president, not the government.

By your definition, Trump was guilty of treason the moment he implied that Obama had a faked birth certificate. You realize how absurd that is, right?
