That should be easy. Jimmy G all the way. Belichick could win with a baboon behind center.

An older 5 time Super Bowl champ (maybe 6 by this time next year) versus a younger guy that hasn't done shite?

I can see this keeping the front office up at night.

This guy was on Russillo yesterday. It was like he wanted to make the argument that they will have a choice to make if Brady declined this year, but of he plays well then there's really no choice to make. Brady won the Superbowl last year and had a great season so why would he have some great decline this year?

It seemed to me like the guy wanted to have a hot take and then backed off of every statement he made. Came off as really "spineless."

As long as Brady keeps pumping himself full of HGH no reason to let him go

if the patriots are sitting at 4-6 (give or take), do you bench Brady and see what you have with Jimmy G or do you let Brady play it out and go into the following season wondering what Jimmy can do? Hypothetical of course.

notice they're beginning to keep/clear cap space?

still have 19.9mil this year
31.6mil next year

they're going to have re-sign certain players and let some go next year of course (edelman, ninkovich, etc) -- but they can still tag him and fit a TON of players.

they don't have a problem until 2018.

If I had to guess, they are worried about Brady being able to stay healthy. If Brady misses significant time this year, I think JG gets the franchise tag. To me, it's between JG and Butler on who gets the franchise tag next year, because they can always tag and tradem like they did with Cassel.

I think these two years are Brady's last stand, especially if they win a Superbowl or two. The teams are loaded, and his wife has already begged him to stop playing, so it would be borderline retarded of him to risk life altering injury after he wins at least one more (which they have to be considered the odds on favorite to do assuming he's healthy).
