Has anyone here had this done? I have mild to moderate apnea, and couldn't stand the CPAP machine. Doc said I was a good candidate for the surgery, and have it scheduled in a few weeks. I've heard the recovery is pretty bad, but he seemed to think I would be able to come back to work in about a week. I work a desk job so nothing physically demanding.

Anyone care to share horror stories or other info that might help me out? It will be tonsil removal, as well as uvula, and reshaping the palate.

Had my tonsils and uvula removed when I was 33. Also septoplasty and turbinectomy. Only time I said the "F" word in front of my folks. Lost a good bit of weight because I could only swallow a few times after I put down a couple of teaspoons of liquid lortab which was no easy task. With that being said I'm glad i did it bec of the relief I received. It's gonna hurt!

Dude no......

Worst experience of my life but if you must then here are some supplies that will help.

Crushed ice
Gatorade to help get the pain meds down. It burns.....
Sonic slushy things
Ice pack for neck. This helped tremendously
Dehumidifier or humidifier whatever it was.
