Convention Center, Renaissance (BR & NOLA) and the JW on Canal. I've always gotten superlative service at these. I've also stayed at the main Marriott here in BR (Corporate Blvd). Same deal.

Every one of those is run by a 3rd-party. Not Marriott.
Random, but I learned recently why Marriott is in a deal with Pepsi. In the 1990's the hotel chain wasn't doing so hot. Lenders wanted sky-high rates. Pepsi loaned Marriott the cash needed at a lower rate in exchange for lifetime beverage contract.
