How would like for Miles to be your current OC? Do you think Miles would ever be hired by a power 5 as an OC again? He was an OC at OSU for 2 years"95-97" I'm sure you remember those prolific Offenses.....before elevating his career to TE coach for the Cowbows. You DOLT.
So if O had 2 years of unimpressive DC experience he's basically Miles right? He coached in the NFL as a position coach and has been a HC...

He could survive: 2017: 7-5 2018- 14-0 2019: 0-12 2020: 2-10 But if he goes: 2017: 7-5 2018: 7-5 2019 he has to win big or he is gone.
Too much talent here and no patience in the adult fan base currently. O & A would most definitely be gone in two years...........

The doom and gloom on TD is like no other! Coach O wins the hearts of the players, doesn't miss a beat when recruiting elite talent, and makes 2 phenomenal hires. Those who think that the golden age of LSU football is over can take a seat in the back. I love the system being put into place where assistants are allowed to do their jobs. I think that O will manage the program and his team with more passion than any coach in the country. He has the knowledge and experience to possibly bring the Tigers to new heights. I believe!

I was not a huge fan of the way the search was conducted but I don't have as big of a problem with it as some on here do. My least favorite thing about the hire is that it did nothing to unite the fan base. The fan base was divided during the Les years and now it is divided on the hire of Coach O. Just like Les's tenure half the fan base will use every good thing he does to argue their case on why he is great and the other half will use every bad thing he does to argue theirs on why he should be fired immediately. None of this is on Coach O. I just wish for once we could all just be optimistic about a situation instead of half the fan base immediately going to the worst case scenario.
Maybe I'm different. If it were me and LSU caused that much misery in my life I would find something else to do with my free time.

has proved that he can go out and hire good assistants when he needs to
Based on what? Seriously? Name all these good assistants hes hired? You'd have to go back to his ole Miss days to look that up. Jury is still out in his LSU hires.

But miles as a head coach took a oklahoma State program that won more than 4 games just 3 times from 1987-2000(which included just 1 winning season) and had them winning 8and 9 games.
Do i need to post what ed Orgeron did after taking over a program just 2 years removed from a 10 win season?

The football team's glory days are clearly over, but there are a disturbing number of fans that are fine with losing.

Gundy was his offensive coordinator that finally got him a respectable record.
Holy shite. The lengths you posters will go to not give miles any credit is astounding. If Gundy was the reason oklahoma state got respectable why did oklahoma state get worse the first 3 years when they cut off Miles' dead weight?

. Starts to slip with recruiting?
Starts? Didn't we lose seven of the top ten kids in the state this year?
He's not going anywhere for three to four years. Alleva gave Les a terrible buyout, for LSU, and the O buyout was even worse considering O would have taken the job with a zero buyout. What was O going to do. Say no to $3.5 million and take a DL coaching job somewhere paying #200-300 thousand?
An average of ten wins a year wasn't good enough for LSU. So, I am thinking Alleva must be expecting 11-12 a year now. Works for me.

I was done with this stupid thread but after miss-clicking a thread and jumping to the bottom post, I just have to make one last comment.
The idiocy is certainly continuing. You think the recruiting is already slipping? But, at the same time you think Alleva should not have given Coach O a buyout? What a fricking idiot. How the hell could LSU recruit against Southern fricking Mississippi if the head coach has no buyout?
Oh, recruiting is not slipping when you can go out-of-state and sign players who are just as good or better. Including 2 of the top 3 players out of Tennessee and 3 of the top 6 players out of Texas - not even including Grant Delpit from TX who attended IMG.
The state of Tennessee provided the #1 ranked safety in the nation and the #1 ranked inside LB in the nation.
From Texas LSU got Austin Deculus, K'Lavon Chaisson and Kary Vincent who were top 6 players in TX. Again, this is not including Grant Delpit who is from Texas.
I don't think I would quite consider that slipping. When a team signs 23 players and winds up ranked #4 (ESPN) and #7 (24/7) some people may actually consider that as being pretty good.

And you dont think that had ANYTHING to do with the coaching transitions and uncertainty on the O side of the ball before MC was hired?
You always lose recruits when there is instability, real or perceived, on the coaching staff.
Miles was letting other coaches, namely NS, come in and cherry pick recruits for crying out loud.

Speaking of idiot and look who comes back to give us more of his idiocy.
Nothing wrong with a reasonable buyout for a gamble of a HC, but ten fricking million for a guy with ZERO HC options anywhere else? You are a bigger clown than I thought if you think that was a good move for LSU.
I understand the nature of recruiting for a new coach, but losing seven of top ten guys by a great recruiter when the kids go out of state to good football schools is not a good sign. I hope that changes for next year.
Now, kiss off, retard.

One has frick all to do with the other. Every recruit understands there is no guarantees that the head coach will be at the school for his entire tenure.
There was zero need to give Ed Orgeron that big of a buyout.was ed orgeron gonna refuse and take the other head coaching jobs he wasnt offered?
