Beauregard is the one I really don't want to see come down. Not only was he perhaps the finest military man to come out of the New Orleans area, he spear-headed the ill-fated unification movement. He recognized and voiced aloud that whites and blacks have the same goals and should work together to make this a better country.
My mother, who is about as liberal as I know personally, has an affinity to the legacy and monument to Beauregard.
On a slightly different note...
I drove by his statue this morning, and saw the remnants of vandalism. That monument (along with Lee Circle) are on the National Registry of Historic Places. Would there be some sort of stiffer fine/punishment for defacing one of these sites?
And on another slightly different note.....
I read today that sites on the National Registry of Historic Places receive tax incentives for maintaining those properties. Does that mean that merely the fact of not having those monuments there anymore would result in higher costs to the city?
Would that also mean that whoever owns the mystery warehouse where those two monuments are to be stored will also receive tax breaks?

The mayor doesn't care. The police and mayor have gotten video proof in the past.
The vandalism last night was shown live on I think WDSU's(can't remember but I saw it live) FB page
