Chemex uses a paper filter, so the resulting coffee is less muddy/cleaner tasting than french press. But to each his own--you should brew it the way you like. My personal preference is to use a stovetop moka pot; some object b/c they think it tastes "stewed".
Coffee geeks are as bad (worse?) than beer geeks, only highly caffeinated to go along w/their opinions. (No hops to mellow anyone out.)

While I like a pour over fine, I prefer the mouth-feel/texture of French Press for exactly that reason. Takes all types
