Has anybody looked at Tim Tebow's minor league numbers recently?

.156 BA
.224 OBP
.289 SLG
.513 OPS

Tebow might be worse at the plate than he is throwing a football.

Ouch. I thought he was killing it. No wonder we haven't heard much about him since his homer

Still better than his pro QB stats. Dude had a 47% completion percentage.

He's also like 10 years older than everyone else at his level.

Give me a break with people saying this is impressive. It's not like this is the big leagues. This may even be lower quality baseball than you find in the upper tiers of the SEC (usually equivalent to A ball type quality of play).

And that's numbers in A ball.

A ball!

Why do pro athletes think baseball is easy?

Jordan was 10X the athlete Tebow ever dreamed of being and he couldn't do squat in the game.

Baseball isn't a sport you drop. And then pick up.

You either play it every year of your young life up to adulthood or forget about making it.

Baseball isn't riding a bike, skills erode quickly if they are not constantly massaged.

You can ski, swim, play b-ball...you miss a year or two in baseball growing up...you're fricked. I missed one year between Pony and H.S. and it was like going back to the basics of how to walk.

You can't miss any development in baseball. You can in football, basketball, swimming, soccer...not baseball.

Not baseball.

I think Timmy has gotten on Jesus' bad side for some reason. Professional sports seem to hate him.

Don't be fooled. Tim Tebow has been awful this year.

Tim Tebow drove in a pair of runs on an eighth-inning single on Sunday – his lone offensive contribution of the evening in a 7-6 loss for the Columbia Fireflies – pushing his season RBI total to nine. This milestone prompted the Fireflies' Twitter account to send a post that makes it seem like Tim Tebow has had a very productive season.

quote:

In 37 plate appearances, Tebow is hitting .176/.243/.596. Tebow's OPS ranks sixth out of the eight Columbia players that have 20 or more plate appearances so far this season. And he's playing in a league where he is, on average, more than seven and a half years older than every other player.

That's not to say there isn't reason to think Tebow's production could improve. He's not walking much at all (5.4 percent of all plate appearances), but his strikeout rate (24.3 percent) isn't all that bad considering his .176 isolated power. If his .174 batting average on balls in play takes a turn for the better, he could be an all-power, no-OBP slugger, which has a certain amount of value.

But that's a very limited sort of value from a corner outfielder or DH, even at the Major League level. Tebow isn't doing this in MLB, though. He's a 29-year-old on a single-A team. So if he's a limited player at this level, there's not much reason to think, at an age where most hitters are already beginning their decline, he's going to have a breakthrough in AA or AAA – or, heaven help us, in MLB.

But he sells tickets, which goes a long way in minor league A ball.

Tebow is not good at baseball or football. He has had so many opportunities at he still can't make it. Tebow sucks
