Hmmm. Anybody hearing anything?

UMass freshmen DeJon Jarreau and Brison Gresham are transferring. Jarreau was a former ESPN 100 prospect."

What I heard was that we are going to hire Shyrone Chatman but there's a holdup based on this ugly lawsuit one of the other assistants got enmeshed in that has touched Chatman.

A link

Whether these two guys end up at LSU, I don't know. That would involve running off current players to make room for a pair of kids who won't be able to help until next year, which would essentially be tubing Wade's first year. Based on what he's told people around town I don't think that's his intention at all.

Attrition is expected. The roster will not look the same this year. I don't think we'll have to run anyone off.

I had speculated on that a couple weeks ago. Thanks for confirming.

Yeah, except he's running a Junction Boys redux in the practice facility designed to make kids quit.

Given that, it's really not unfair to say he's run a guy off if the Junction Boys routine pays off.

You are still essentially burning 2 schollies next season if you add these two. I'd say this year would be the best year to do it with expectations low but I doubt wade wants a true rebuilding year next year.

I don't think it would be unreasonable to take them. 11 players vs 13 players isn't a huge deal once the season gets going and the bench shortens anyway.

ETA: It's still different than just not filling up the roster too. At least these guys would be in practice everyday.

I just highly doubt we'll lose 2 guys to add these 2 guys who have to sit out next season. Granted, if those 2 guys we lose are guys who would barely play anyways, win/win perhaps?

Jarreau seems like a potential player, Gresham not so sure about.

I would love to see it, but I would be willing to bet he's looking for immediate help. That's my point.

Gresham his a high energy rebounder/ defender. Could be a Jordan Mickey type shot blocker. He didn't play because he was academically ineligible last year.

They both played AAU with Smart if I'm not mistaken. Would probably help us with him

The coach that recruited them got fired. They played with Javonte for Elfrid Payton Elite in the EYBL.

We'd need 3 open spots to add these 2 guys. Still see us bringing in immediate help down low for next season too.

I fully expect at least two more spots to open up. It is not inconceivable to think it could be three.

Why would you have to run off the current players if these players won't be elgible until two seasons from now??
