However, to deny the Syrian government has done horrible things is to disconnect from reality. To deny the Syrian government has allowed and even encouraged expansion of ISIS and related atrocities is to disconnect from reality.
Regarding the OP, Assad is a bright fellow. He is well-spoken. So was Ted Bundy.
Doesn't mean Assad was not set-up. But it certainly does not exonerate him either.
