Well to be fair, the people on my FB aren't worried about paying rent. They're all fairly well off families, but so was mine. Didn't mean I was getting an SNES system for Easter. That stuff was reserved for birthdays and Christmas and maybe an occasional just because.

How do you know they are well off? That may be the case but I bet there are a few that have huge amounts of credit card debt just to keep the allusion of being well off. It's all about image thanks to social media. Life is nicer not flaunting my lifestyle on social media.

And honestly, it probably wouldn't be a big issue if majority of those people giving kids those kind of gifts were also teaching them the value of those gifts. And that monetary possessions are just that, monetary.
But that seems to almost never be the case with the women we're talking about. They're usually the same parents who don't want to punish their kids because that'll mean saying no to them and actually having a teaching moment with their kid. They're those permissive parents who want to be their kid's friend and inevitably their kids end up immature as frick as an adult because they've never been told no.
