first things first, does this actually help?
i know nothing about gardening, so i'm looking for something simple and easy for a hot texas (zone 8b).

i've seen all of those, and i'm just wondering if they actually make a difference, and if they do which ones are the easiest to grow?

I got some citronella plants this year. It seems like they are working. I've got a few in pots on my patio.

Lemongrass, lemon thyme, and supposedly catnip. Yes the plant catnip!

I don't think there are any plants that reduce mosquitoes a noticeable amount. in fact, I have never even seen a difference due to candles with plant extracts (i.e. citronella).

I used to keep rosemary and peppermint plants on my back porch. Don't remember ever seeing mosquitoes. Wax myrtle leaves have mosquito repelling properties as well.
