so you feel OK with destroying the lives of innocent people simply because they can't afford bail?

Innocent people should stop committing crimes, duh. Think of the CHILDREN!

I don't subscribe (yet) to the prevailing dogma that police are evil and we should fight them with all our might. Are there bad apples? Certainly, like in all other walks of life. Does this warrant the type of all-encompassing action that CA is taking? Nope!

serious question
do you understand what "redistribution" means?

in response to your earlier post, she fundamentally does not understand what bail even is (or is supposed to do)

Serious question: why do you think you're the only one who understands terms and ideas, and others don't?!?!
Posted on 4/3/17 at 8:52 pm to conservativewifeymom
For a minute I was off it being a troll account but I'm back to thinking it is with this last post.

You're arguing what about states rights on something a state might choose to do?

oh he clearly doesn't understand that term
usually i'm an expert on understanding the reasoning behind comments/questions that make no sense, but his comment was so stupid and incomprehensible, plain ignorance of what words mean is the literal only explanation
if you want to take a stab, then go ahead. how is income-based bail redistributing anything? what property is being taken? who is it being given to?

I agree. I really hope this is a troll.
And it's solid work if it is.

Because I'm FOR victims' rights and against criminals. If they can't afford bail, they shouldn't commit crimes. No bail, they can sit their a-- in jail until it's time for a trial. Simple!
Since you've already judged them to have committed a crime wtf is the point of a trial? Let's just move from arrest to sentencing and save a bunch of tax dollars.

Yea, tell that to all the people who have been falsely accused & exonerated, but had excessive bail.
They come out with PTSD & an institutionalized demeanor. County/prison never washes off the soul if ppl are there long enough

The government doesn't keep bail money. You put it up to guarantee you'll show up for court. Show up and you get it back. Skip town and you lose it.
It's based on income because an OT baller might skip town if it's only $100,000 but an average person can't walk away from that much.

It's redistributing bail revenue from bail bondsmen and inflated prosecution rates from assistant DAs and putting it back in the accused's bank accounts and allowing them to fight charges.
Obviously.

I UNDERSTAND that! Once again I ask you, what does bail amount have to do with the accused individual's bail?!?! And, new question, why the emphasis on release based on risk to community if bail is already set at levels to match gravity of ALLEGED crime?!
Are you a KCT alter? Because you get really worked up over shite and CAPITALIZE random WORDS in your posts..

I knew I'd get called out on that, but I was too lazy to edit, lol. Yes, I do know the meaning, and yes, you're right. It's been a long day and I'm tired.
My problem with the bail is, for example, if you and I were to be arrested on the same charge, why should your bail be higher than mine simply because your income is higher? Imo, it should only be higher based on flight risk and other standard criteria.

yes
flight risk primarily
risk to the public/alleged victims
that's about it, with a very high burden on the second part

There's a show called 60 days in on A&E. Recommend you consider applying for the show.
Your views will evolve on this. I'm sure at least a few ppl have dealt with the hell of false imprisonment.
If you aren't looking over your back for a shank when there's a race war brewing, youre having to fist fight multiple ppl in self defense & risk getting months & years added to your incarceration....all while you're innocent trying to preserve your life

WTF does "victim's rights" have to do with bail?

You should note that these LEO did nothing improper. They followed the letter of the law. They aren't bad apples. The bad apples are the ones pushing policy- the same policy you don't seem to have a problem with.
Bail is not punitive and never should be. We have a presumption of guilt in this country, as fleeting and dimming as may be.
