Looking to get about 60sqft of granite and backsplash installed. Stopped by this place that was giving $10 per sqft on the style we liked. Thought that was crazy low and figured if they don't charge crazy for installation, we may have found our people. Just got the installation, polish, etc back and it was $1950. Does that sound normal or are they over charging their installation to make it seem like you're getting a good deal on the granite at $10 per sqft? Total was about $2600 for 65 sqft.

If it was done right, you did OK at that rate.

Move on.

$10/sqft is very cheap are you sure? And typically inst is usually expected to be double of cost.

I know some people who charge ridiculous around here for back splash inst.

They make up a square foot price to get you in. A square foot price is completely fabricated. They are figuring how much they will have to pay for the material how much they will pay thei guys in labor minus what they might be able to make on what they have left on whatever is left over . What type of granite is it?

That's roughly $40/sq ft? Very solid price if it's done right.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. OP do you have pictures of the granite?

This is the quartz I'm looking at and it's $80/sqft can't remember what the total price and inst was.

That's pretty good man. I do like that granite too. For that price it's a steal IMO.

OK. Thanks guys. Still have 2 more quotes so hoping so get a little better and then let them battle it out. It's funny how some people give outlandish quotes when they don't want a job rather just saying not interested. Had a quote for $4800 from one company.

65 square feet at $10 is $650

So they charged you 4X+ the price.....

Not saying that is bad, just the $10 SF is BS!

Yea that $10sqft was just the "hey let me get you in the door and then rake you over the coals"

Yeah but this is typical my man. Normally good granite is $50+ sqft. You get quartz at that price point too, but quartz goes way beyond on the top end.

And like I said inst is usually double cost.

Be careful on back splash because you think it might be by sqft but a (1) tile can be $17+

I'm in the business. I'm in Savannah, Ga so the market may be different . Very few of my suppliers deal in 2cm material but 3cm giallo ornamental runs me on average about 500 a slab. A slab is about 50 to 60 ft. It would probably charge right at 3k for that job so I'd say you are getting a decent deal. They are going to have about half a slab left over so I would try to work them on throwing in a vanity

It's crazy what they do with left overs. I'm in Amish country Illinois, they just throw it all away.

shite we have remnants that we won't even sell because it's not worth the labor to have my guys to get to them.
