Edmondson--only 58--gets his pension for life
He's paid in 40 years.
Please explain to me at what age you think it is proper for an individual to retire?
Whether you realize it or not, your line of thinking is the same thing you rail against.

I don't care when a person retires BUT if you are going to exempt a person from state income tax because social security recipients are exempt on the amount they receive from social security then at least make them wait to the age to get their tax exemption until the age social security people get their exemption.
What is wrong with that?
Why can't you limit state pensioner exemptions to the maximum available under SS and tax the rest??
What is wrong with that?

Exactly, but how much did he pay in? Enough to justify a six figure a year salary? I doubt it.

At whatever age his plans allows him to retire, and I'm sure his plan permits early retirement.
I have no issue with early retirement, or retiring and being compensated according to what he put in to the plan. I do have a problem that state retirees pay no La. state income taxes while other retirees in La. do.

The point of the OP is that his pension is INCOME STATE TAX FREE
I don't care about the amount. Good for him he is getting that for life. No issues about the amount. It's the NO STATE INCOME TAX
