That's a great picture.

Best thing about the British Open is the early morning golf.

Masters is the best course, and my favorite tournament, but you're absolutely correct that it's not the best field, or really even close to it.
Only 90-100 players in the field, and 15 have absolutely zero chance to win.
You're also correct about the coverage blowing. No protracer, way too much time setting up shots and stories, and not enough actual golf shots (75% putts at least).

Waking up at 3am every year on Thursday is my favorite Open tradition.

It's sooooo bad.
Fox showing golf all damn day every day is the best coverage. And like the other poster said, I love watching the British in the early-morning hours. I absolutely love those two tournaments.

The worst part about the limited Masters coverage is how they have to set up everything. We only get 4-5 hours of coverage each day and when coverage starts ESPN and CBS spend the first 30 minutes setting stuff up. ESPN even does that and they're doing sportscenter from the Masters all day until 2. Set up your stories and do recaps from 1 to 2 then come in hot at 2 and show live golf. FUK

It takes until you're an adult to realize it, but it's true. The Open is the most fun.
Waking up and watching at 3am is awesome.
Masters is just a bunch of nerds that suck.
Oh, you don't let anybody play there....or see the front 9 until 2007.
GFY Georgia.

The Open and US Open are almost tied for me. Honestly, the US Open has lost a little bit of its luster for me with the shift to some of the new courses.

The green jackets dictate how many hours CBS can televise golf and have a large influence in how CBS airs the coverage. Overuse of patrons is one example. Do you hear it used at any other tournament?

The people at Augusta National are so full of themselves. It's a major turnoff.

Right.
I could see setting up storylines and all that if they came on the air at 10am. But they don't.
And just overall, NBC's coverage is a lot better than CBS. Fox's coverage itself isn't anything spectacular in terms of their on-air talent, but their technology on the broadcasts and just the excessive amount of hours they're on air is amazing.

It is. I've lost more and more respect for this tournament as the years go by. Most people that are paying attention have.
No course is bigger than the game. These people let Tiger cheat when they knew it was all but over for him. I can't respect that. Customs are great. Integrity is better. Augusta National has very little.

You keep this up and Billy Payne will ban you from viewing next year's Masters coverage from your home television.
Posted on 4/10/17 at 9:55 pm to Choupique19
Next year after the after the opening tee shots Billy Payne is gonna say "Everybody have fun. Except BRgetthenet." And his TV is gonna go out.

How so? I think CBS' announcing/analysts and production staffs are better than NBC's.
I like Maltbie & Koch, but other than those two, I think CBS's personnel are far better.

Y'all see the montage of Duval's picks in majors since he's been with the golf channel?
Would give a short goofy explanation, look up, start laughing, and pick Sergio every goddamn time
Picked Rory this time, though. They gave him shite for not going with Sergio when he did it, and then BAM.

The Masters does dictate a lot to CBS, but at least the best part is that they limit the number of commercials. CBS probably shows more commercials in one quarter of an SEC football game than during an entire's day's coverage of the Masters.
Imagine if they let CBS do what they want. There would be a commercial break every time the leader's ball would come to rest. They would have ad breaks in the middle of the 18th green 2 putt.
They would probably figure out way to make a player like Sergio hold up and not tee off until they were back from another 5 minute break.

ANGC folks will seek him out.
Probably will be fitted for concrete boots before next year.
