Why are the braves so expensive?

Like someone already said, they have a ton of prospects.

Braves, Yankees and Cubs seem to be the most desirable as of late.

I'm definitely looking to get in on one. I go through phases of buying cards and not. Just depends if there's any prospects I want or college players I want. I've never done a break though.

That's how I've become. I know they're not worth that much, but I like getting the rookies each year and then go after autos of guys that I really like.

I know there's an allure to personally getting an autograph, but at my age, I've got no issue buying it on a card as opposed to looking odd in a group of kids trying to get someone before a game

If there was one done here on TD I'd be up for it.

we should either do one with people on here or pool into some of the big buy dealios and try to hit the homer.

mccaig, we have our breaks tonight. I'm in with 1 pull for 1st and 2nd breaks.

I couldn't believe that 1 box of cards was just 1 pack, with about 10 cards. Although that guy pulled 2 bigtime cards.

This damn post got me watching for hours yesterday and this morning. Finally jumped in today... just landed a Fernando Valenzuela auto!

Thanks for reigniting the hobby.

yea but guys like Swanson and Albies are lighter hitting guys that lack true superstar traits. And honestly they dont have many proven young pitchers. Talented, yes. But numbers arent backing it up yet

i was happy with pirates and mets, because of the prospects the pirates have and the pitchers the mets have.

i just wish i could remember all the lingo. the feed i was watching last night had my head spinning.

What is the process like for picking your team? is it always random or do you pay more for better teams? or is every break different?

I remember as a kid looking forward to Mom having to buy groceries so I could go to the store to buy some packs of cards. Then go back to the car and open them before she found out I spent any money on them. Our grocery store always had a nice variety to choose from, so I always left happy. Crazy back then spending $10-$20 on cards was a lot back then. Now some packs cost way more than that for one pack. So many great memories.

I was lucky enough to pull the 1989 Upper Deck Griffey rookie from one back back in the day. Still have it today.

Is there any value to the base cards from packs or does everything pretty much revolve around the signatures and jersey inserts?

Base cards very rarely hold interest unless it's a short print variation from any goven set which can often command a few dollars to hundreds of dollars.
Certain insert sets from various products can bring good money and value as well, predominantly in basketball.
The hobby is COMPLETELY different than it was 25 years ago.. hell even 15 years ago.
In fact, it isn't a hobby much anymore.. just legalized gambling

So with that said, I have access to cases at cost so if yall really wanted to do a break

I'm with you. I wouldn't mind seeing one here. Seems like it would be alot easier and we somewhat know everyone here

I would be in as long as we could pick the teams we're paying for instead of random selection

Yeah, unfortunately the hobby has evolved to pretty much gambling today. A lot of people sell anything good as soon as they pull it. Sometimes a base rookie sells well if they blow up like Trout or Bryant.
