Football got new life. Basketball got new life. Baseball will be stuck in the same....

rut until a change is made. Mainieri has been mind fricked ever since that UCLA regional in 2010. He completely changed his recruiting style opting for speed and contact rather than going after hitters. LSU baseball will never win another championship under Mainieri.

What if I told you we still have a chance at a National Championship in baseball this season despite losing by 1 run to Florida at home?

I put paul up there with les. Very successful but cannot get over the hump. For les it was bama and for paul it is omaha. Outside of the championship in 09 he has won two games there in 9 years. One in 08 and one in 2015. Difference is we consider ourselves one of the best programs in baseball with fan support and facilities. I think if paul can't get to Omaha and can't get to the championship then it is just a matter of time before a change should be made.

Aleva prefers to give raises & extensions to mediocre coaches, usually after bogus interest from other schools drummed up by coach's agent

This is the cold hold truth, and I'm almost willing to ban bet somebody over it
I have about 0% confidence we'll hoist another NC trophy under CPM.

I'd say you and I both have a chance to hit the powerball and that those odds are about the same as LSU winning a title this year.

So, the season is already over the night we lose our first SEC game?

Season def isn't over but first it was the season isn't over because we're losing midweek games to sisters of the poor, now it's not over because we are losing SEC games. Sooner or later you're gonna run out of excuses and losses.

The armchair coaches in baseball are easily the worst of any other sport.

So are the excuse makers.

Dude. He won a national championship. With HIS players. Are you retarded?

Even the best of teams typically lose at least 30% of their SEC games. Are we going to have these inane, reactionary meltdowns after every one of them?

Regardless, the style of play/recruiting was very different back then. The OP is completely right about that fact - the '09 team was loaded with power hitters. They scored nearly 600 runs that season; it felt reminiscent of the gorilla ball days.
It's almost like CPM is afraid to recruit anyone bigger than him.

That's what they do; that's all that they do. It's their Modus Operandi and sole reason for existence.
Professional Lumps. (The LSU version of an Alabama Gump that have no life outside of supporting their adopted college athletic teams)

New generation of LSU fans ... Not happy until every coach is fired and replaced.

The nuances go over some of you guys heads.
One injured star pitcher or just a tired arm is the difference in omaha.
And dear lord, the other guys can play too. When the long island team stony brook outscored lsu you would have thought that nichols state had just taken down magic Johnson's lakers going by td posts. Look at how often the light hitting infielders have a world series that carries their team. PS. Fundementals are fun.

Were you expecting them to go undefeated in the SEC??? It's baseball. Shrug it off and move on. LSU could end up being swept and still be in the hunt for the SEC title. Do you remember the 2008 season? Hopefully we don't need a run like that but this team definitely seems like the type that will peak later in the year. That's the best time to do it.
