In theory yes, but what we've seen from this coach is his in ability to get his team to peak at the end of the season!! Plain and simple... he puts every bit of his focus on winning the SEC, but by late May they are spent.

Please don't confuse the children, they think this is football season.
The main reason I love baseball is that you lose a game, and it's WTF let's beat them tomorrow.

"Mediocre coach", as in National Coach of the Year 3 times. SEC COY twice. Coach of a National Championship team. Coach of 2 time SEC League Champion. Coach of 4 time SEC Tournament Champions. SEC Champions just 2 years ago. SEC runner up last year. 3 losses this year to 3 teams ranked in the Top 12, one being ranked #1, the other being ranked #5 as recent as 2 wks ago. Yea, he sucks.

Can we all agree that LSU baseball, with all it has accomplished, should NEVER have a volunteer hitting coach with zero experience?

eta: In fact, his staff has Gibbs, Ochinko, Cain and Fury on it. None of which have much more experience than playing at LSU in recent years.

Lord help us if Joe has to make 3 hires for the major sports.

Coach O has done great things with his hires, IMO, but let's be honest, we could have done better. Plus, JA made a mess out of it.

I'm pumped as hell for Wade, and think he'll do great, although the jury is still out. But, I think this was done more by EN, than JA.

Sometimes the ignorance on the Rant is simply amazing. Just to enlighten a few of you:

-The NCAA only allows 11.7 Scholarships per Div-1 program. Now divide 11.7 schollys available by the 34 players on LSU's roster. That means on average, each player receives 34% partial scholarship. The reality is, you have to spread it out depending on talent/draft evaluation/what your competitors are offering you recruits, etc.

-Further adding to roster difficulties is that the you are recruiting against MLB. This isnt FB or BKB where you can can just go all-in on 5 star studs. Why recruit a player who could potential make millions even as a later round draft pick, and you are offering 50-75% schollys AT BEST.

-During LSU's heyday (1980s-1990) College Baseball had far fewer schools participating. LSU had better resources and support during that time than most and it correlated to a string of success (frequent appearances in the CWS, frequent championships). Since that time, more schools have started programs and all programs have seen improved resources and support due to TV/Conference money. Name another program since the 1990s who has had half the success LSU did during that time???? NO ONE.

-Great suggestion. Maybe coach O could hire 12 more FB coaches like an NFL team....oh, thats right the pesky NCAA who sets limits on paid assistants.

-Christ sake we have a spoiled fan base. Think of historic/premier programs in other sports and their recent success or lack of. UCLA Bkb, Notre Dame FB, Miami FB, Nebraska FB, dynasties come and go, it doesnt mean you bail on the program you love. Hell, we have a perennial top 10 team, how about just watch some good baseball???

-With the points made above, whats your expert opinion on "getting us back to the top level?" Who would you hire? How would you hand out your schollys? I am all ears but I am sure the answer will be: Fire Mainieri and/or Fire Alleva.

TL;DR- LSU loses a 1 run road game against a top 25 program and ignorant threads like this pop-up. Come at me baws....

Our volunteer hitting coach is paying off. At least it's not costing the program money. Sheesh.

I want LSU to win the CWS because I'm a fan and enjoy watching them play.

But it would be extra special to see Paul win another one just to take a big shite on all the posters on this board that say this.
