Tell them you just found out you have a kid in another city and you are going to move there to try and be a father.

Then, I'd just tell the current boss "we both know I'm over qualified for this job, well I just got a better offer. Peace out."

Then do something crazy like tell them thank you, but you have something better. Come on dude. Grow up.

Sincerely thank them for the opportunity and give them a brief reason for your decision. You never know when you will need something from someone, now, that you don't think you will need anything from.

To OP, I quit a job a couple months back after the first day. Just called the owner in the office and told him I didn't think the job was for me and apologized for having gone through the hiring process not realizing it wasn't a fit for me. He shook my hand and thanked me for the honesty.

If he just got the offer you described then he shouldn't careless about how he rolls out

A job says you have to give a two week notice before you leave. Tell the boss: "two weeks from now you gonna notice I'm not here"

It basically doesn't matter, you're dead to them and they will never give you a good reference.

Say you appreciate the offer but you don't see this opportunity being a good fit long term.

Man, I am talking to that poster as a person.. Not throwing shade, but I can't help if she migrates my way... And not yours.
