It really is quite sad that Strugill Simpson and Jason Isbell are the best "musicians" that this "genre" can produce these days.

They are as bad if not worse than bro country.

I'm glad Sturgill is losing the horns. Hopefully the music will go back to focusing on his overdone fake country twang.

High Top Mountain could be classified as a country album IMO...the last two, great albums, but not really country.

Isbell is not country.

Cody Jinks is the best country artist for my taste right now.

They aren't by a long shot, however the listening public and the record companies won't allow the real talent to be heard.

There's good country out there, you just have to look for it. Guys like Dallas Easton, Cody San Pedro, Bayliss Johnson, and Nathan Austin are all top notch.

I don't get the praise for Isbell, his shite is too boring and slow. At least Sturgill plays fast sometimes

Hank 3 and Blackberry Smoke were sent by the Lord above to save country music from all of the tight jean wannabes spewed out of Nashville. Honk is not dead yet, trust me.

Basically Americana is country music today. The radio crap is just pop with a twang. There's nothing country about it. Original country was more folkish

When will people accept the awesomeness that is bro-country?? It's the best thing that has happened to country in a long time.

Have to say I'm a huge fan of Isbell and Sturgill, though as someone mentioned, they're more Americana.

Anyone listen to Jason Boland and the Stragglers? Their High in the Rockies live album is amazing. Been a Drive-By Truckers fan for years- up until their most recent album. Enjoy Lucero as well.

Nothing I've heard lately is comparable to the real country music from back in the day.
