I'm looking at 996 turbos and they are starting to climb. Researched prices from a few years ago and they're already about 8-10% higher today.
Not really in a position to buy at the moment, but I feel like I'll never get one because by the time I'll have enough to afford one at today's prices, they'll have gone up 10k in value.

I do not doubt it at all.
That scenario is very common. After one generation prices itself too high, the next lower price generation begins to appreciate because buyers then begin buying that generation so demand skyrockets and supply plumets.
Cascade effect.
