Any part of the US government that is able and willing to spy on it's citizens is a threat to everyone's freedom and liberty.
Edited to add: Based on the lack of character I find associated with politicians and government I do not trust covert operators to do the right thing.

Where is the evidence they're spying on American citizens?
If there is evidence the CIA is spying on everyday Americans - then I'm on board with you but I haven't seen anything that says they have.
The capability to do so does not mean they have.
