don't think that is even a consideration, besides im pretty sure whatever they do doesn't get stamped official until the NFL gives final approval on the deal (I think that's how trades work) so that time stamp is when he is "officially" no longer on "our" team and his new team owes him the roster bonus instead besides that being such a small amount it wouldn't be saved money in either case or anything that comes up on the radar as a consideration when talking about a deal like this

It is a consideration. It's a roster bonus, so if he is on our team on the date of the bonus, we pay it and it counts against our cap. Not sure if the bonus is due tomorrow or Monday, but if we don't have paperwork filed with the NFL by then, we pay that bonus.

Again, it would be wasted money and cap space if he is still on our roster and trade him after. Now $780k is not enough to make it like a hard deadline. It is not $5M, but it is a consideration.

not disagreeing about it should be something they were looking at but.....

my point was that I think its too late to get paperwork filed now so its already too late to beat that deadline even though the bonus date hasnt yet passed.

I say that because I think even if the trade was agreed to today, it takes a day or two to be filed and im pretty sure until its approved by NFL office things like timed bonus are not prorated back to when the agreement was made, but maybe im wrong about that?
