I don't care about Hispanics - they are mostly Catholic and work their asses off.
I don't want another Muslim here
agree 100% on the Muslims, especially those from terror prone areas
on the Mexicans, they DO take jobs that Americans can and will do
I know a bunch of guys in construction & landscaping - the Mexicans that work for them get $10 an hour, some as much as $15 - that's about what they'd pay an American citizen
but the small business owners still wind up getting a financial break on their labor because they don't pay their share of the matching FICO taxes, so just over 75 cents an hour per employee
the big problem I have with them being here illegally is that they do not contribute financially to the system, but they do wind up receiving the benefits & that puts a strain on all of us, especially long term

There are many Hispanics in the roofing business around here and the Hispanic contractor is not illegal. The contractors will win the bid and get paid legally and then pay illegals cash to work for them.
They work cheap, fast, and it is good work.
I see more now than I have in the past. After the Joplin tornado in 2011 we had large spike in illegals in construction.

Fair point - I don't want any MORE new illegal Mexicans for a whole is what I should have said. I'm honestly okay with deporting only "the bad ones" so long as we build a wall

quote:Why didn't Americans already have these jobs? I mean - Americans (and the jobs) were already here, right? What came first - Americans sitting on their butts, thumbing their noses at the jobs, or ambitious Mexicans coming across and showing up for work and scooping up the jobs? Lazy Americans are at least somewhat to blame here.
