Except it can and does happen.
Say you're in a chapter with like 15-20 guys. A new guy starts hanging around and ends up going through the prospect process and becomes a patch holder. What nobody knows is he's an undercover cop.
This cop finds even one guy, could be someone that's just dumb, greedy, or desperate for cash and he convinces that guy to do something like "help" him sell a pistol or sell some pot/meth/whatever. You are a member of this chapter but have no clue what's going on between this undercover cop and that member. Despite you not being involved in the illegal activity the fact you belong to the same club means the Feds can and will charge you with RICO. And then you'll be in a world of shite. It happens literally every single time a club is taken down under RICO.
