Endymion is around 1200 the first year (if I remember correctly)(there is an initation fee)

After the first year it's drops to 900ish.

Not including throws, that's another grand or so.

That's not a lot of throws? Is this typical in NOLA parades? The last year I rode in houma I threw 5k of stuff and I ran out early.

Def not 12000 lol. Dues after initiation are around $1000. Average on throws is about $1200. Spent $1500 on throws this year and that was plenty to throw the entire route and in the Dome. So look to spend at least $3000. That would include everything.

If you have the money can you ride? Or do you need to know someone?

They've been limiting me membership lately due to upper leadership not wanting to go more than 3000 or so riders.

Idk if any new memberships exist right now. The only way they allow new riders now is through substitutes or if a previous krewe member leaves permanently.

You do have to know somebody in the Krewe to get you the forms you need to join. Think of it as a sponsorship.

Got it, Thanks.

Guessing it's easier to join a smaller krewe/parade

Bacchus costs me 1k/yr for dues...it includes ball tix

I typically spend 1-2k on throws, I'll shop for next year right after mardi gras this year...much cheaper

I only spent around $500 on throws when I was a substitute rider for Endymion. That was with no schwag beads and stopping only for bathroom breaks. That was in 2005 but I can't see the prices going up that much.

Did I find a great deal on beads and stuffed animals, or were you throwing all ankle length, multicolor, beach ball sized beads?

No it was all 33" PPG and about 1500 footballs. I might have bought a few boxes of medallion beads but it was negligible
