Can be depending on how you consume it.

It's without doubt an excuse for trash to drink in public without fear of punishment

I can't stand Mardi Gras but that's me and I'm not gonna fault anyone who wants to have a good time.

Depends on what you do:

Watch parades with the family, tailgate st Charles, eat good food. Not trashy

Go slumming in the quarter looking for hookers and cocaine, cool, but trashy

While not a hard and fast rule, I find Mardi Gras parade goers to be trashy and Mardi Gras parade participants to be non-trashy.

Seems like a nice excuse to get wild in public. I think that cancels out the trashy aspect.

We stay at the W French Quarter every year for the whole week of Mardi Gras.

People who come once and head straight to bourbon st are the trashy. The costumes, the Bacchus ball, the walking parades, the pre lent celebration. That's my Mardi Gras.

It all depends on where you are and what kind of crowd you are with.
Not trashy as far as I'm concerned with how I do it and where I go.

Mardi Gras itself is not trashy. There are trashy people at every type of public celebration.

Personally, I detest Mardi Gras. To each his own, though.

Done right, Mardi Gras is a time to let your freak flag fly with your friends and family and enjoy strong drinks and good food. I love every minute of it.

When I see threads like this I have to think some tards actually think Mardi Gras is all about stumbling around Bourbon street or standing in huge crowds on Canal St.

You've obviously never ridden in a parade. There's a gazillion people on the route...there is going to be some trash in that gazillion.

It certainly brings out the trash but it's only trashy if you choose to partake in festivities with said trash.
