You realize you just illustrated the point that a roster plays a huge part of a coach's success, yes?

I guess I didn't realize amare staudamire and Jason Richardson were that much better than Vince Carter and gortat. I guess that's not gentrys fault after all for being a below .500 team with two hall of famers and a plethora of role players that are still good role players today.

Of course it plays a huge role. The guy was claiming Gentry sucked B/c he didn't have talented teams. He took over a very talented team, and they regressed until he got fired.

It's not about talent, it's about fit IMO

Example- D'Antoni had talent in LA and NY, but the talent didn't fit his system

You put Gentry with certain kinds of talent and he succeeds. But it wouldn't be with THIS kind of roster IMO

Amare and Richardson were in their prime and a perfect fit for gentry. Amare was averaging near 25 a game in Phoenix as one of the best players in the league and you wanna talk about a 34 year old Vince Carter and Gortat.

34 y/o Carter and Gortat are the type a guys we'd see on this Pels team and wonder why gentry sucks so bad
