I agree that the exit speeds are similar but when you combine the bigger sweet spot size for bbcore. Most players I know prefer bbcore.
And their stats back this up as well. Most of these players avg would be similar but their power numbers would plummet.

My sons played D1 as well and their preference is BBcore as well as most of their teammates. They enjoyed hitting bp with wood but bbcore was more consistent due to sweet spot size.
