The OP is presupposing that everyone who reads this thread knows that Leo Lewis is the recruit that signed with another school that has been mentioned in the Ole Miss news.
At this point in time, it's all alleged though.
Oh ok...haven't seen that.

This is literally the only thread that I've seen that's name Lewis as the guy, but admittedly, I haven't read up a lot on this.

But I don't see what this has to do with the Ole Miss news.
Simply confirms what many people thought. There was more being exchanged than people knew for sure and this news confirms that.
I (like many people here) thought we'd pull Lewis and this explains/confirms why (probably among other factors) we did not.

What I'm trying to imply is the danger of that kind of precedent being set.
It's standard operating procedure for the NCAA, they aren't setting any precedents here. Have you never heard of Lester Earl?
Nobody is talking about the NCAA setting a precedent for this, I'm talking about recruits.

This statement makes no sense. If the NCAA has always handled these situations this way, the precedent for recruits has also already been set.

Ole Miss cheating was one of the worst kept secrets in the FBS.

I would say that if he took money to play football he is no longer an amateur and can no longer play collegiate football.

I never received a dime from LSU when I came out of high school
They don't do it
They don't do it

LL had a choice. Take the cash, go somewhere else (or don't), move on w your life. Why did he talk? He's from Mississippi. OM nation might make his life miserable for years, it still might be very shortsighted. NCAA can't stop fans from ostracizing him or worse.
Hypothetical:
5 LSU recruits get paid by LSU boosters, they go elsewhere, NCAA gives them immunity, LSU gets hammered. These kids are smart right? What if every program/recruit did this?
Its interesting you referenced LE. You think LSU nation embraces him w open arms? You think he's glad he talked all those years ago?

Does the same standard apply when we accuse other schools of doing it? That's the naivety of the situation. Fans are always ready to throw out accusations towards other schools but when it's their own it could never be true. That's just ignorant.
We pay and anyone with any kind of open mind knows it. The Peterson and Bowe legends weren't pulled from the sky. The Willie Lyles stuff wasn't just us being nice to him. Saban had a bankroll when he was here and it's not really a secret. But I guess it's only at Bama that he's cheated.

aking the offer of NCAA immunity and getting to keep the cash another school gave you doesn't make you a snitch. It just makes you smart.

You're acting like he approached the NCAA.
He talked because the NCAA forced him to.

You apparently have some disconnect with reality if you think recruits are lining up unsolicited at the doors of the NCAA to tell them all about the offers they got. Any recruit talking to the NCAA was compelled to do so.

No. It doesn't. The offer is "Tell us what happened and keep playing with immunity" or "frick you, you're ineligible."

His camp approached an LSU group wanting 180,000 and the LSU group told him to Geaux F himself

That's good. He's not worth 10x what Ole Miss was offering.

What exactly does Lester Earl have to do with any of this?

What are you basing this on? How do you know they threatened him and with what?

I don't think there's a group of people doing it, yet. Again, this goes back to what I said about precedent (for recruits). Continuing to incentivize this kind of behaviour (give them immunity and letting them keep the cash) will lead to more and more recruits selling competing schools out. Which could very easily hurt other schools, LSU included.
Saying this move is "smart" is condoning ratting out because he (Lewis) isn't punished at all, doesn't take anything else into consideration. Lewis being totally off the hook, why wouldn't more recruits do this if they get the best of both worlds and get to punish their competition?

Did the NCAA not ask how much MSU paid him? He didn't go their for their winning tradition or ability to get you drafted.
