The fastest most effective way to move traffic is to move traffic. You actually cause bottle necks when trying to be nice.

YES. Makes me insane when people stop to let others make left turns from opposite lanes, to be "nice". It makes traffic back up behind them far worse than if the left turner had to wait.

I agree. Most of the time it's older people who think they are helping, but in reality they are effing up the flow of traffic.
