How did you make your descion? Wife wants to add, I want to move to Old Metairie.

I went to the bank, and the loan officer told me an addition would not be worth it.

I'd go new house if y'all have the budget for that. Sometimes additions can be a PITA.

Additions never work well. Asking for foundation problems, settling, roof leaks and all sorts of problems when you try to add on to a house.

Depends on where you are now. We'll be building, but we're already in OM. To buy what we want in our neighborhood would cost a lot more than building. We also like everyone that lives next to us.

I guess with variables that tie to personal preference set aside, I'd look at the cost of the addition vs the cost of moving. More importantly look at how much to value will increase then compare total value with value of new home.
