Pregame coin toss is the only coin toss there is. Team A wins the toss and chooses to kick, receive, defend a specific end zone, or defer, and then we play a 60-minute game as scheduled.

If the game is tied after 60 minutes, the two captains meet again, and now Team B gets to choose from the same options.

Sudden death.

So what's the problem with this? After all, we know from the start of the game who will get the ball in a hypothetical overtime, so now both teams can play the game with that in mind. Maybe you go for 2 instead of kick that PAT at the gun knowing that you're going to have to kick off to Brady in overtime.

Ok thought, but no.

Regular seaaon is ok now.

All they need to do in playoffs is make a rule both teams get the ball once (eliminate the TD ends it in postseason)

play an extra quarter.

if tied after a quarter you go to sudden death.

An extra period is literally what every other team sport does. Basketball and Hockey have timed periods, Baseball has an extra inning, soccer has a timed period that goes to "sudden death" (penalty kicks) if it remains tied. College football is basically a hybrid of baseball and the NFL. Winning a coin toss shouldn't provide such an advantage

We should have an xfl style run off for the ball to start overtime.

I think they should just play another 10, 12, or 15-minute period. Just play football some more.

I like soccer rules. In the playoffs, they should add 15 minutes. If still a tie the sudden death.

Not being salty. Falcons would have loss in overtime that way too. That defense was gassed.

So basically, you want to lose the toss to start the game (because in your scenario Team A gets the ball once, and Team B is guaranteed to get the ball at least once, definitely twice if it goes to OT). Terrible idea.
