To me it's not about exploring the other trades available now. It's asking - What kind of players can I get for my 2018 pick this summer or next February and are those guys likely to help me more than Okafor?

So if the plan is trading the 2017 pick for a young vet, does that mean they aren't trying whole-heartedly to make the playoffs since the higher their pick the better vet they can trade for?

I think that's too much forward thinking for this group. I could be wrong on Okafor taking Jones' role, but to me this move makes the most sense as "We can't afford to keep Jones and execute our other offseason plans, so how can we replace him cheaply?"

As flawed as Jones and Okafor both are, they can score. Someone that can pick up the scoring load for AD when he's out is a big need on this team, otherwise you're looking at starting each season with 10-15 automatic losses.

While I do not disagree, how realistic is this? It sure sounds like Dell is doing all he can to make a deal now and use that 2018 pick to do so.
