I don't know if I'd agree that Okafor takes up the same space as AD. A lot of the highlights I'm seeing show him attacking the basket from 10-15 feet out because he's got a pretty damn good handle for a 7 footer. Again, I would see him filling the role we currently have Jones in minus pump faking from 3. Whether that's worth a 2018 1st is another question entirely and depends on what you can get for Jones. If Jones + Tyreke or Galloway can get you a mid-late 1st then I think you're better off taking Okafor who has upside and a cheaper deal than what Jones would likely cost to keep.

Okafor defense is a huge red flag.

Jones at least has the athleticism to defend the rim and on perimeter (sort of). Okafor has neither the athleticism nor the smarts/instincts to do much of anything on defense. i don't see how Davis/Okafor work defensively in a small ball league

doesnt mean he can't get better, but they could be giving up a lottery pick for a guy who can't play significant minutes next to Davis. that's a miss for me

ETA- not an egregious one. dumping Ajinca and getting a talent like Okafor on a rookie deal is fine. just not moving the needle big picture for me
