Yeah...a good tax lawyer can get very pricey. $450 is not all that much in that world. Four or five semesters of tax classes does not make an expert. Your experience likely trumps whatever expertise they think they picked up.

$450 an hour in Iowa is a lot for an average Joe like myself. He's a friend. I'm guessing he charges a lot more than that. He sets up captive insurance companies in the Cayman Islands, Bermuda etc. One for the second largest long haul trucking firm in the country. I play in that arena as well. Reinsurance. I participate in some London programs as part of a group as an investment. Fascinating stuff to me. Been to DC with him. Sat next to him while he testified to Congress. Tax treatment of captives.
I'm guessing between he and I we have it figured out with respect to the employee being treated unfairly in taxation of health insurance.
