Isn't that Clarence Thomas?

Fox showed a clip of protestors outside the court and they had signs that said OPPOSE at the top and a blank white spot below that.
Then they wrote in Gorsuch with a marker.
They were out there to protest anyone who was announced so when they found out they all had to write his name on their pre-made oppose signs.
I laughed out loud.
Yep, those crazy protesters. Next thing you know an entire party caucus of U.S. Senators will be saying, before the President has even nominated anyone, that they won't even consider having hearings on any nominee, no matter who it is.
Oops, my bad. That already happened. Those protesters are insane and a disgrace, though. They are acting like Republicans.

I'm not going to get wound up about this guy unless something really crazy comes out which I doubt it will considering he's been vetted once already. He's replacing the most conservative justice the court had anyway.
if your people were smart they'd take this and run with it
if they want to flip out and make themselves look insane and further marginalize themselves, they're going to open up the avenue for a much different paradigm when Kennedy, RBG, Thomas, and possibly Breyer have to be replaced
could you imagine giving the GOP political capital to temporarily use the nuclear option for USSC picks so that they could stuff the court 7-2?

Thomas actually belevies in the proper ICC interpretation and I think Scalia was more focused on stare decisis so yeah you could make that argument. i think scalia was a much more social conservative, though

I think cooler heads will prevail, a lot of Senate D's are still bitter about what happened to Garland and while I get that they need to take a long view here.

THIS GUY isn't the one you don't protest and blow the system up over
save that for Kennedy or RBG

I agree and i think thats what will happen

man i dunno
they had the paid protesters ready with fill in the blank signs
they had the talking point ready "mainstream"
and frick i mean Nancy Pelosi was saying that Gorsuch would basically end the world last night
SUPPOSEDLY there are 7 DEMs ready to cross lines on the filibusterer but i'll beleive that when i see it

The left is obviously really upset right now so they are going to have to make something of a show to appease them. I just don't believe they are going to make this error. At least I really hope not.

one of the most pathetic things I've seen

the hyper conservative Chris Hayes was even being critical of hte protesters

if the DEMs really want to use the "mainstream" talking point they may be signing their death warrant for 2018. they could probably use that line with Pryor, which is why i assume Trump picked Gorsuch as the first one. he's very vanilla, esp considering who he is replacing
DEMs want to make him seem like an extremist and outside of their mainstream views about government. the problem is that their vision of what "mainstream" is was just repudiated in November and the battles that have to be fought in 2018 are state-by-state, not national. the GOP is currently dominating in that arena

I assure you that I'm better educated than you are, my friend. And went to better schools, You're just not half as smart as you think you are.

That belongs right with Robespierre
Lmfao.... you probably didn't know who he was before you saw Fox News this am, right?
He tried to force people to adopt a state invented religion from the Catholicism french have practiced for a thousand years.
There is a huge difference. If a company is providing health insurance, contraception is a no brainer, every single woman I know has been on birth control at some point in their life. Providing comprehensive care must include the most popular set of hormones in the world.
Nobody is forcing the Hobby Lobby owners to actually use birth control.
Your right to religious liberty extends to the point that it does not encroach on others' liberties. You don't get to dictate that others must live by your arbitrary interpretations of ancient fables.

are we still talking about Hobby Lobby? that argument doesn't apply
there is no right to subsidized birth control, which is the issue in Hobby Lobby
on the flip side, the ACA mandated people to supply BC to others, even if it violated their religious beliefs
this case wasn't decided based on constitutional rights. it was decided by statutory interpretation. there is a federal law that protects religious beliefs and practices from government encroachment and that law was used to invalidate parts of the ACA
i know that Hobby Lobby is the one case that the progs have to fight against Gorsuch and that we're going to have to re-litigate it, but let's talk about teh actual facts and issues of the case and not invent platitudes to make it sound like something it wasn't

Nancy Pelosi:
Does this mean Pelosi will stop breathing air, drinking water, eating food, etc.?

If you breathe air, drink water, eat food, take medicine or in any other way interact with the courts, this is a very bad decision.
