No, but paying in full would be silly. They will settle for less more than likely.
Removing things from collections will skyrocket your credit if you get in writing you will only settle if they offer a PAY for DELETE option.
There's a chance you would pay in full, and the holder would just "close" the account, which means it's still listed under collections on your CR
