It seems like OU is there once a week, does anyone know if LSU has one before the dead period ?

I don't think O has gone in home with him yet. OU coaches are supposed to later this week(Stoops has already fulfilled his 1, but OU fans say he's going again), so I would imagine O would try to get in after that to close the deal.

I would hope so, Hopefully Aranda and O can get this done.

Would hope Coach O goes in before not after Stoops Friday visit. My belief is that Stoops will lay 100% extra guilt factor on the young man for pulling a last minute flip.
This young man should have the right to wait until signing day to make his final decision, but he will do himself a favor, and OU and LSU by making that decision NOW before the last day. He has plenty of background regarding his initial love and desire to play at LSU and Stoops and staff should get low marks if they over-pressure and try to guilt him into sticking at OU.
I have lived in OKC for many years and know how Stoops operates. And, aside from the glory years of the 1970's and early 80's when money and drugs were free flowing in Norman, any OU fan would now agree that development of defensive players to the NFL has been sparse at best. The Big 12 is soft, and we all know why.
That being said, this young man will do what his heart tells him and I'm sure our fan base will support him in his decision. He seems like a quality quality young man - much different from some others we've dealt with within our own home state.
Make your decision NOW, Mr. Phillips . and help LSU and OU divert their focus to other targets.

My understanding is you only get 1 in home visit. Anything more is a recruiting violation

Indeed. If Stoops has already gone in home, he can't do another in home without facing sanctions. So one of two things is happening here-
1) Those individuals claiming that Stoops is going back in home are completely ignorant to the rules, and are putting a microscope on their recruiters, unknowingly, by spreading rumors.
2) Phillips is worth so much to Bobby that he's willing to risk future scholarships to ink a 4* out of state linebacker.
I'm pretty comfortable guessing that most of us would choose the former as the more logical of the two options

Well the NCAA is so lax on certain teams and as long as you aren't blatantly rubbing it in the faces a lot of stuff is getting pushed under the rug right now.

Phillips would be doing himself, OU, and LSU a big favor by shutting down any more visits - tell the coaches he will make his decision known by Friday. Allow both programs to work on other recruits based on his decision and move forward. Three to four days doesn't sound like a lot of difference but with tight numbers and other recruits perhaps holding back or being held back, it helps other recruits too.

Wish they'd surprise him and all show up tomorrow! Make Kristian Fulton's dad cook some fire gumbo for them to bring up to him. Would flip after the first bite.
In all seriousness they do need to get up there asap, Imo. I'd want to get in there before OU staff goes Friday.

True, but if BS does do another in home, you can bet that a whole bunch of Tiger fans will blow the whistle. If we lose Phillips FAIRLY, we will all accept it and wish him luck.

If he has signed finical papers with OU (can sign as many as Phillips pleases) than the coaches can have multiple visits. The papers just mean the school can't pull his offer and in return there is less strict rules during the dead period and they can have multiple in home visits. But recruits can sign as many as they want, it only binds the school to the player.

Bob stoops is not visiting Phillips in home. He already used his visit. Having said that, I believe any head coach can visit him at school. However, as long as he is committed to ou, his high school coach isn't allowing non-ou coaches to visit school, which is really strange.

True...but if he doesn't end up signing with OU and stoops does have another in home visit due to the financial aid papers being signed, doesn't that in turn violate the rules?
I realize you said If he had...I jist remember we got burned on this before for an Olineman from MS...IIRC.

quote:We got "Womacked" with Matt Womack by Bama (failed the same with Hootie). This is slightly different. With Womack (and Hootie) the idea was to get LSU to contact them during the dead period which the FA papers allowed, but if they ended not signing with LSU, what was legal became illegal after the fact.

In this case, I don't think FA papers extend a HC's visits at all. Asst coaches don't have the number limit, only limited in the date ranges (which the FA papers allow).

This rule was changed after the Wommack fiasco. I think the NCAA saw that Saban basically used the situation as a weapon, and they closed the loophole the first chance they got.

so basically nobody knows the answer to the OP question? If he doesnt meet with him before NSD then its over
just the fact he hasnt flipped yet doesnt look good.

Womack was an early enrollee. Only early enrollees sign financial aid agreements not summer enrollees
