Could you name the rods and reels you believe are ready for speck fishing.
Also, what area are you fishing in? Louisiana, Florida, Northeast/west coast?
You can specks fish on the fly with topwater. I haven't had a ton of success with specks on fly except the handful of times I've run across school specs.
Redfish on the other hand is a different story and you can go after smaller reds with a 6wt with no problem.
Redfish on the fly will completely change how you view fishing for reds.

I'm in SWLA. I mainly fish Big Lake.
I'll take some pictures of the gear when I get home.
Diffidently something I would live to do. Red fish on the half shell or blackened in a pan is one of my favorites.
