1. $70k ain't a bad living (especially if the wife is also pulling in $50k+, which is what it sounds like)

2. It's none of the dad's business anyway.

Life isn't just about earning potential. If he's a good dude and good to the daughter, just say "yes". Anything else is not the dad's place to say.
